For your first Article of the Week assignment, you need to do the following:

• Carefully look at the photograph.
• Carefully read the poem
• Carefully read the excerpt from the article that they printed on the page. (If you want, you may click the link to read the entire article.)

Then, on loose-leaf paper, answer these two questions:

1. Why do you think this particular poem was paired with this photo and this article from The New York Times? What specific elements do the three pieces have in common? Describe them.

2. Which do you like best: the poem, the image or the article? Why?
